About LocalPix
LocalPix is a small collection of free image tools built around one idea: your pictures belong to you, so they should not have to leave your device just to be resized or converted. Every tool on this site runs inside your web browser using standard technologies such as the HTML canvas, the File API and JavaScript. There is no upload step, no sign-up and no watermark.
What you can do here
The site currently offers nine tools: an image compressor, an image resizer, a format converter, an image cropper, a rotate and flip tool, an image to Base64 converter, a colour picker, a QR code generator and a background remover. Each page includes plain-language guidance on choosing settings and answers to common questions.
How it works
When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your own computer or phone. The tool draws it on a canvas, applies your changes and encodes the result as a new file, which you then save. Because the work happens locally, it is quick, it can handle batches, and it keeps working without a connection once the page has loaded. The only network requests the site makes are for its own pages and, when advertising is enabled, for ads.
How the site is funded
The tools are free to use. To cover hosting and development time, the site may show advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Ads are placed away from the tool controls and never receive your images. Our principles
- Files stay on your device. We do not receive, store or inspect your images.
- Honest guidance. We explain trade-offs, such as quality against file size, instead of hiding them.
- Accessible and light. Pages work with a keyboard, on small screens, and without heavy third-party scripts.
